Elena + Andrei | Belciugatele, Romania
When I get availability requests, they usually come from brides. Occasionally the groom contacts me, (I assume) either because he’s into photography, or maybe because he drew the short straw. When Elena and Andrei wrote to me, they wrote separately and independently of each other. After a brief moment of confusion (I have another request for the same date and location, how can that be?!), I took that as a good sign that maybe they both liked my photos.
Elena and Andrei’s wedding took place at I Do Weddings. I had heard many a good thing about the place and I knew my friend and fellow shooter Marian Cristea was always excited about the great weddings he shot there. I finally found out why – the location is great; we got to enjoy an outdoor ceremony (which is far rarer than I’d like in Romania); Elena, Andrei and all their guests were relaxed; not least of all, Simona, the coordinator at the venue, worked really hard to make everything run smoothly.
E + A are both very practical and down-to-earth and this showed throughout the day – they got ready for the wedding together (very calmly and enjoyably); they didn’t want to spend too much time on the photo shoot (because we’ll have another day to do that and they rehearsed the first dance instead), they didn’t want any posed or forced photos just for the sake of having them done.
I’m glad I got to photograph their wedding and looking forward to seeing them again for a photo shoot in September.
“What we enjoyed most about working with Vlad was his professionalism. He was always punctual, cameras ready, always prepared to shoot from the most surprising angles (and we have the pictures to prove it).
We didn’t have traditional moments at our wedding and felt no pressure from him to do any of that. He photographed all the moments that mattered to us and, overall, we barely knew he was there, which is exactly what we were expecting of him.
We would warmly recommend Vlad for his photography, but also for his people skills. He listened to our requests and managed to make it happen; on top of that, he managed to surprise us in pleasant ways a number of times. Vlad took charge of photography without making us feel hounded. The only direction we got from him was to remember to smile when we were too tired to do that. We have photos in our album that we had no idea Vlad had even taken; more than that, some moments look like they were documented by three photographers, not one.”
